Minutes

Call to Order at 11:00 a.m. by DG Bill Clausius thanked everyone for coming.

Pledge led by 1st VDG Al Johnson

Words of Wisdom by 1st VDG Al Johnson focused on “Life is a Gift” the three C's Choice, Chance and Change

Approval of Minutes: CS Ron Wright reported that the minutes from the previous cabinet meeting had been e mailed to everyone. There were no questions. Motion by PDG Bob F. with a 2nd by Lion Tony S. to approve minutes. Motion carried.

Treasurer's report: CT Bill Severson presented the current financial statements. Motion made by PDG Conrad D. with a second by Lion Jill K. to approve Treasurer's report. There were no questions. Motion carried.

District Governor Report: DG Bill Clausius reported that our District is up 53 members as of 9-30-21 however the WI Dells club has disbanded and we will be losing 14 members. DG Bill emphasized re-invigorating the clubs in our district with a goal of 60 net new members this Lions year. That one of the goals of LCI is diversity and that all clubs should seek diversity in their membership. October is World Vision Month and November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Would like all clubs to plan a new diabetes event for November.

District Convention is March 11 and 12, 2022 at Chula Vista in WI Dells.

Committee Reports:

Global Membership Team (GMT), Global Leadership Team (GLT) and Global Service Team (GST): Lion Tony Sobczak reported on all three. Reports were send out to all cabinet members. Cross Plains Lions won the Kindness Matters award in a close vote in our district. Regional meetings will be starting next week with the other two meetings on Oct. 28 and November 15 th . Passed around a flyer on the Nextrex Plastic challenge. More information will be presented at the regional meetings.

Guiding Lions: CS Ron Wright reported that he has not had any requests for Guiding Lions.

LEBW: Lion Rick Daluge reported on LEBW and report was sent out. LEBW operating at about 75% of pre-COVID numbers.

Restoring Hope Transplant House: PDG Bob Faliveno reported on RHTH. Report was sent out.

Wisconsin Lions Foundation: PDG John Elvekrog reported camp went well this year. There were no COVID related issues. Deer hide collection is coming up and to remind clubs as it is a big fund raiser for camp. WLF has a $75000 spending limit in place and there is discussion about raising that. There is a WLF director position coming available at the end of the Lions year. If interested contact Lion VDG Al Johnson by January 1, 2022.

Vision Screening: Lion Milo Parker report was sent out. Schools seem to be opening up to allow screenings again. There is a $500 Kids Sight First challenge in place for the District that has the most screenings. Get you screenings done and reported!

LCIF: Lion Dan Marshall report was sent out.

Extension: PDG Randy Harrison report was sent out. Clinton and Belleville are identified as potential new clubs.

USA/Canada Forum: VDG Al Johnson reported that it was a great forum. Next year will be in Calgary. Report was sent out.

Leo Report: Lion Guy Gryphon reported that only three advisors are listed. Please talk to clubs about getting them into the system.

Adult Vision Screening: PDG Bob F. reports that they are available to do adult vision screenings at area health fairs and that they could use 3 to 4 more volunteers. Please speak to the clubs and if interested contact DG Bill or PDG Bob.

Diabetes: Lion Jill K. gave a very passionate report on Diabetes awareness. She will be speaking at each of the regional meetings and is available for club visits. Could use a couple Lions to be on the Trolling Diabetes BOD. Wants our district to be the capital of WI as far as Lions Diabetes Awareness is concerned. PDG Bob F. made a motion to donate $1000 to JDRF walk. Seconded by PDG John E. Motion passed.

Global Membership Approach: VDG Al reports this is a new approach for increasing membership and that the current 1 st VDG are putting the plans in place for next year. Lions need to change how we market ourselves.

Conventions: Lion John Jensen reported that the International Convention is in June 2022 in Montreal. Price to attend goes up on Jan. 7, 2022. District convention is March 11 and 12, 2022 in WI Dells at Chula Vista. Could use a volunteer or two for the committee to help put it together.

Announcements:

Verona Lions hosting 2022 district bowling on Jan. 29, 2022 at Ten Pin Alley. Sign up sheets in back of room.

DeForest Lions having a Sportman Raffle. VDG Al has raffle tickets if interested.

Cuba City Lions 60th anniversary in May.

Madison Central Lions anniversary on May 22, 2022.

Dodgeville Lions 50 year anniversary on May1, 2022. 50/50 raffle winners were announced. Congratulations Lion John E and Lion Tim M.

Next cabinet meeting will be in January 2022. Lion DG Bill is looking for a new venue and will report as soon as he has it secured.

Motion made by Lion Jim F., second by Lion Tim M to adjourn at 12:19. Motion carried.
