WLF Report

The Wisconsin Lions Foundation Board of Directors met on Saturday September 18, 2021 at the Lions Camp. The camping season was a success this year, they were able to complete all ten weeks of campers. There were 639 campers with 78 from our District which included 28 communities. There was not any Covid related illness, a complement to the great work of the staff and everyone involved in running the camp. Plans for next year are to be back to a normal summer, we all hope that happens.

I want to thank everyone who purchased Lions Camp for Kids Raffle Tickets. Sales were over $49,000 with a profit of $38,887. This was $10,000 more than last year and one of the best ever. The Lions Pride Clay Shoot was a record with over $40,000 Profit. The 24 th Annual Birch-Sturm Golf outing made $23,912 and the Hustle S'More at the camp netted $9,386. All these Fund Raisers are important to help with our Camp and Foundation finances.

The Lions Pride Endowment Fund - President, Wayne Heiman presented a check to WFL for $80,000.00. The LPEF now has a balance of over 11 Million dollars. They are scaling back but donations can still be made for Ray Hempel Fellowships. This $1,000 donation goes for camping expenses. Ray Hempel was the main Lion in starting the Lions Camp.

Our other WFL projects; Eyeglass Recycling, Vision Screening, Hearing Program and Diabetes Education continue to provide resources for those in need. Covid slowed them down, but things are picking up. Thanks to our great staff and Lions.

WLF Director Laurie Holthaus and I thank everyone for your continued support of your Lions Camp. We would like to make club visits this year, so please contact us.
