Global Membership Team Report

The Global Action Team has had a busy start to this Lions year. We finished up the first round of zone meetings in September. Some were very well attended; others were not.

The focus of these meetings was for clubs to share what they did last year in hopes that it would inspire the clubs that were inactive to think about how they can make adjustments to their projects and fundraisers so they can reinvigorate themselves back into action. While some clubs continue to struggle filing their reports it was incredibly positive to hear the things they were up to last year and the difference they're making in their communities. It would have been nice if all clubs were attending these meetings as this round of zone meetings seemed to be very helpful.

Looking ahead, we will have Regional Meetings later this month. We are doing things a little different this year. To cut down on the travel and to eliminate having six meetings, we are consolidating the meetings into three.

Regions 5 & 6 will have their meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at the Crossroads Supper Club in Arthur (between Platteville and Montfort). Social hour is at 6 p.m. with dinner and meeting to follow.

Regions 3 & 4 will meet Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Albany Lions Clubhouse. Social house is at 6 p.m.

Finally, Regions 1 & 2 are tentatively scheduled to meet Nov. 3 at Rex's Innkeeper in Waunakee. This date is still subject to change.

At these meetings, we are hoping to have presentations on how to market and promote your club; a district-wide plastic bag recycling project; a presentation on the district's diabetes efforts as we head into November; and other updates from this cabinet meeting.

As of this writing, our membership is a minus-7 on the year. We have dropped 53 members as a district, but added 46. That's very encouraging. Please continue to do meaningful service in your communities and promote all of the good work you're doing. It will help attract new members who want to be a part of something positive and help us toward our goal of having positive membership growth.

Respectfully submitted,
Adam Crowson
