District Meeting - Sunday, March 13, 2015 5:30 PM - District Convention, Marriott Conference Center

CABINET MEETING MINUTES

Meeting was called to order by Lion DG Randy Harrison at 5:30 p.m.

Introduced ID Cindy Gregg and her husband.

Recognized all PDG and DG in attendance.

We were led in song and prayer by Lion Julie and PDG Neil.

1st VDG Dick led us in the Pledge.

Thanked everyone for coming and broke for dinner.

Cabinet meeting began with Lion DG Randy welcoming everyone again and introducing ID Cindy.

ID Cindy spoke briefly about the new position of Reading Action Program coordinator and reminded everyone that April is membership growth month. She will be the guest speaker at lunch tomorrow.

1st VDG Dick reminded everyone of the hospitality room he will be hosting on the 10th floor from 9:30 to 11:00 this evening.

The minutes from the January 18, 2015 cabinet meeting were approved.

Treasurer's report was presented and approved.

PDG Falivino spoke briefly about the new Edgewood College Club. He recognized the committee members who helped plan the district convention. Convention attendance is down from last year.

Lion John Elvkrog (Stoughton Lions) informed us on the new Orfordville club. Their first meeting will be on April 25, 2015. Expecting about 30 to 40 members.

Committee Reports:

1). Adult Vision Screening. Lion Doc Esser reports 12 screenings thus far.

2). Children Vision Screening. Lion Dave reports 4490 screenings thus far and to be sure to turn in your numbers.

3). ALERT. PDG Daryl stated that his report in available on line and reminded everyone of the power point presentation that is available to all clubs.

4). Lions Eye Bank. Lion Mike reported that the new executive director has been hired and started last week. Renovations are completed on the new processing rooms and equipment will be moved in shortly. Expects to be processing tissue by April 15, 2015.

5). Lions Affiliate. Lion Julie invited everyone to attend her session tomorrow at the convention.

6). Centennial Celebration. Lion Tammy will be hosting a seminar at the convention tomorrow.

7). Restoring Hope House. Lion Peter has the report available on line.

8). By-Laws and Constitution. PDG Arlen reports that the revisions are available for review on the district website and invites everyone to look at them.

9). Convention. PDG John reports the state convention is coming along and will be on May 14 to 16 in Fontana, WI at the Abbey.

10). Hearing. 2nd VDG Lion Eric reported 10 hearing aids have been given out this year.

11). Missions. Lion Isley reported 31 Lions went to Nicaragua. Trip is planned to Haiti in October. Mexico remains closed for mission trips.

12). GLT. Officer training is set up according to Lion Al. Zone chair training will be on April 29th and May 9th.

13). GMT. Lion Tammy reports that the Madison Evening Club will be disbanding. Reports that the District membership is up a few.

14). IT. Lion Scott would like to see more news articles submitted by the clubs.

15). Leader Dog. Lion Bill asked that you stop by his booth at the convention tomorrow.

16). LEO. No report.

17). Peace Poster. PDG Lion Walt reports that the top 4 posters are on display near the registration desk.

18). Youth Exchange. Lion Ben reports 48 kids have been accepted to Youth Camp and most have been placed with host families. They have awarded 4 scholarships.

19). Pins. PDG Jerry reported the 2015 pins are available at the pin table.

20). Elections. Lion Bill reminds everyone that certification will be open from 7:30 to 11:00 and 1:00 to 2:45 tomorrow. Elections will be at 4:00 tomorrow.

21). WLF. PDG John thanked everyone for their support. Need campers and counselors. Fire damage is being repaired and they will be ready for campers.

22). Pride. No report.

23) Environmental. PDG Rob reported that Lion Ben August won the district and state contest and the photo is on display out front.

The bus to the USA/Canada forum has been arranged and the cost will be $175/person. Trip will be Wednesday thru Sunday.

DG Randy has magnets available at the front table for anyone who wants one.
