Committees - reports available on the District Website

Global Membership Team (GMT) - Adam Crowson reported that there will be four sessions of No Lion Left Behind with the second session coming up on January 20. Open Region meetings are being held again this week. The team is working hard on No Lion Left Behind and preparing for the upcoming officer training. The District membership is currently down 54 with 93 dropped members. Recruiting has been tough and there have only been 30 new members. The most recent trend for dropped members is alarming as it is more long-term members.

PDG Jodi Burmester reported that NAMI had undergone a name change and would now be referred to as the Global Membership Initiative.

Global Service Team (GST) - Bruce Voight reported that a lot of time has been spent on No Lion Left Behind. As a direct result of the first session, the event identified the need to address hunger in our communities. Out of that came the idea for drive through food drives “From Your Pantry to Ours”. Asking each club to conduct a food drive during the first quarter. Scott will be posting the information on the District website and direct questions to the GAT team. In addition to the food drive, 100 Acts of Kindness to celebrate Wisconsin's Centennial is being promoted. Bruce also added that collecting pull-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House can count as a Childhood Cancer service project.

Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin - Director Erica Singley shared that with being closed for two months, tissue recovery is currently at 55% of last year. The transplant rate for September, October and November is running at about 70% of last year. A new fundraising program is being developed to target individual and corporate contributions, but the $1,000 Knight of Sight for Clubs will remain the same. The transporter program is slowly returning to normal. The building remains closed except for transporter pickup.

PDG Rick Daluge confirmed that the Eye Bank building would not be available for the March Council meeting. He also noted that an online transporter training session would be held Saturday - anyone interested should contact Michelle or Casey at the EyeBank.

Restoring Hope Transplant House - PDG Bob Faliveno noted that his report was on the website, but added that he, 2nd VDG Al Johnson, and Adam Crowson did some work at the house over the weekend.

Wisconsin Lions Foundation - Director Laurie Holthaus reported that 2021 camp will happen with a 100 camper per week limit that will be determined via a lottery. The Diabetes camps will be put on exclusively by WLF. There will likely be no visitors again this year. Director John Elvekrog added that the Camp for Kids raffle will still be held as well as the Birch Sturm golf outing on July 17th.

Centennial - PDG Jodi Burmester reported that in our district, we have two of the oldest clubs - Madison Central and Janesville Noon were both chartered in 1921. Both are looking to host celebrations and the district may be interested in doing something around this celebration as well.

Convention - Jessica Schwedrsky shared that this year, convention would be all virtual and be held Saturday, March 13th with an evening online trivia event the night before, Friday March 12th. There will be no registration fee for either event. Working to finalize programming and registration, but hope to have it available in the coming weeks.

Nominations - PDG John Jenson reported that Bill Clasius will be running for District Governor, Al Johnson for first Vice District Governor, and Jeff Winkler for Second Vice District Governor. He added that they are all qualified to run and voting has been determined. Nominations will occur at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for March 7th. Voting will happen immediately following the meeting and run through Friday night of the convention.

Cabinet Meeting - DG Tammy Rockenbach has schedule the meeting for 10am on March 7th. PDG John Jenson will be corresponding with the nominees to discuss speeches. Additionally, bios and pictures will be gathered and attached to the ballot.

Awards and Recognition - Andy Grosvold reported that nominations for Lion of the Year and Service Project of the Year will be opening soon with a deadline of Feburary 5th.

Policy Manual - PDG John Jenson reported that the policy manual draft with the noted changes was posted to the website and involved three areas: revisions dealing with removing the Lioness from District operations, adding information regarding the EyeBank Director as an elected position and a policy regarding the investment of excess funds. There was also a section added that permits a virtual convention. DG Tammy Rockenbach added that though there is a lot more that can be done, these changes take care of a few necessary items.

MOTION: PDG Rick Daluge/ PDG Bob Faliveno
To approve the Policy Manual changes as presented.
…CARRIED…

Diabetes - Jill Ketzke reported that because the WLF camp is having less people per session, they are limiting diabetes camp to 12-16-year-olds. ADA has cancelled all of their camps across the nation, so Wisconsin is lucky to still have a camp being offered. Jill asked for financial support to secure licensure through the ADA. The total cost of $942 includes professional memberships, practice exam, study books and materials. Lions are not licensed to give information on diabetes, but this would allow for that.

MOTION: PDG Bob Faliveno/ PID Pete Cerniglia
To make $942 available to Jill Ketzke for ADA licensure.
…CARRIED…

Hearing - Foundation Director Laurie Holthaus reported that the audiologist reimbursement rate had increased to $350.
