District Cabinet Meeting - Saturday, August 2, 2020
Global Service Team Report Report

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing the cancellation and postponement of many Club's service projects and fundraisers for the last 4 months of 2019-2020, the final service numbers for the year are less than expected. But even during these uncharted time, District Lions still manages to serve nearly 300,000 people.

Working with GLT Chair Tony Sobczak and GMT Chair Adam Crowson, Officer Training for 2020 was conducted for Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, Membership Chairs and MyLion via Zoom video conferences. Zone Chair training will be held via Zoom on July 22.

As Stuff the Bus Co-Chair for D1, with Lioness Julie Baglama, we put together information packets for Stuff the Bus, which were sent to all District Clubs. To date, 14 Clubs have indicated they will be participating in Stuff the Bus this year.

Information was also sent to all clubs Presidents, Secretaries and Club Service Chairs on the new Kindness Matters Service Award. Applications for the Award were also sent and need to be returned by August 15, 2020 to be considered. From the Award Applications, a District Project of the Year will be selected and submitted to MD27 for consideration for MD27 Service Project of the Year.

In late June, I participated in a MD27 GST meeting with the other District GST Coordinators. We will be meeting monthly to share and discuss goals, challenges, successes, and failures.

Respectively submitted,
Bruce Voight
27-D1 GST Coordinator
