Comabt Blindness International Report

Since Combat Blindness International's founding in 1984, they have impacted the lives of people worldwide by restoring vision through cataract surgery. Restoring vision to people is the most cost effective medical intervention to reduce poverty and increase quality of lives. 2017 was a big year for CBI as they screened 371,953 adults and performed 30,314 adult cataract surgeries. Also, 71,188 children had their vision screened and glasses were provided to 10,734 children. CBI has also started to train people in different countries to assist in clinics and hospitals with screening and education. Since 2014, CBI has screened the eye of students who attend school in Madison. CBI will be having their World Sight Day fundraiser in September 2018. For more information on World Sight Day, visit the website at combatblindness.org. If you are interested having a CBI representative speak at one of your meetings, you can contact me at (608) 843-8124 (preferred) or at spplayer77@yahoo.com. As Lions, one of our community priorities is vision. Working together with CBI throughout the world we can make blindness a thing of the past.
