Wisconsin Lions Mission January 2015 Report

The winter meeting of the Wisconsin Lions Missions was held at The Lions Camp in Rosholt on Saturday January 10th.

The mission to Lozandier, Haiti in November was conducted with seven Wisconsin Lions along with a small medical group in very primitive conditions About 300 people received glasses and dental care along with other medical procedures. This was a small start of a project that will hopefully grow with time.

Thirty one Wisconsin Lions will be in Matagulpa, Nicaragua February 23 thru the 28th. This will be an eye glass clinic along with diabetic screening. We expect to serve about 3000 people.

Mexico is still off limits, however going back to Camargo or Miguil Alemon is being explored. Both are border towns and security in the region is improving. This would be a year or two away.

On January 23rd, two trailers filled with school and medical supplies along with a complete dentists office, firefighting equipment and EMS equipment is being delivered to McAllen, TX. The dental office will be set up in the Reynosa Lions Center and will offer free dental care.

We continue to develop a statewide emergency response team. The goal is to have at least 200 Lions on a list who might be available on short notice to respond to a natural disaster where ever it might occur. This could entail rounding up needed supplies and delivering them to hands on work where requested.

If your club would like a program on Wisconsin Lions Missions or you wish to be involved, please call (608) 846-4571.
